Sage belongs to the salvia plant family and is derived from the Latin word salvere, which means "to heal." People often use sage to purify a space, bathe away negative energy, meditate, heal, or promote intuition. The ritual has been practiced for thousands of years, dating back to Roman and Egyptian eras. The practice of smudging is also deeply rooted in many Indigenous cultures.
Our White Sage Smudge Stick is organically and sustainably grown on a family farm in Southern California. Each stick is hand tied and sun dried until it is ready to adorn your home.
- Measures 4 in. x 1 in.
- Organically grown in California, never wild harvested
- 100% natural: No pesticides, growth hormones, butane, or drying agents used
- Directions: Open widows or doors in your home to allow smoke to escape before lighting. Hold the sage stick at a 45-degree angle and light using a match or candle. Allow the sage to ember until smoke starts to billow. Place in a fireproof bowl and slowly walk around your home or desired object. Use precaution: If any embers fall to the ground, tamp out immediately. Never leave burning sage unattended. To extinguish a sage smudge stick, press the burning tip firmly into a fireproof bowl, dirt, or sand until the smoke no longer rises. It is best not to extinguish with water if you wish to use your sage stick again.
